Visitors looking for a town-wide celebration in a seaside Maine village will find it at Freeport’s Sparkle Celebration. Each year, Freeport presents one of the most popular holiday celebrations in Maine, Sparkle Celebration. The event kicks off in Freeport with a parade of lights on Main Street to awaken the famous talking Christmas tree. The fun will continue all weekend with a host of free events and activities, including visits with Santa, carriage rides, a holiday movie marathon, a Tuba Christmas concert and more! Best of all, it’s all free!
Visitors will enjoy great events, entertainment and shopping throughout the weekend. LLBean’s Northern Lights Celebration coincides with Sparkle Weekend, and is bigger and better than ever. As the Talking Tree on Main Street comes to life, kids will enjoy asking it questions and hearing unique answers. Hop on the carriage to take a tour of the village, starting at the LLBean flagship store on Main Street. The whole family will enjoy taking photos in front of the quaint backdrop at LLBean.
In addition to the ongoing events, the weekend will be dotted with highlights. Bring your list and find something for everyone – all while strolling through our charming Maine village and stopping by playfully decorated shops with great deals.
Brilliant tattoos, face painting, and crafts will be happening at various times throughout the three-day event. If you head to LL Bean Discovery Park, you’ll see a huge lineup of musical talent. Performers like Pejepscot Station will be treating guests to Americana and bluegrass, among many others.
Great food can be found at the Freeport Fall Festival.
There will be a wide variety of food trucks and culinary arts to enjoy. Athena’s Cantina Food Truck will be there with a mixture of Latin-infused dishes.
Food can also be art, and you’ll see that at Cropley’s Charcuterie. With artistically crafted charcuterie boxes and cones. They are so beautiful you won’t even want to eat them.
Artists, artisans and craftsmen will line the streets with unique and interesting gifts.
One of the festival’s stands is “200 Faces: Portraits” by Janelle. This artist takes reference photos of your furry companions and draws wonderful portraits that you will cherish forever.
Unique artists will create their own works that cannot be found anywhere else.
The Light You Find stand will feature interesting lanterns, light boxes, and other cool artworks that use light. These are just small samples of the amazing art that will be on display throughout the event.
